Rapid Immuno-Comb Serological Tests

The MycoDot™ serological test is for the diagnosis of tuberculosis and employs liparabinomannan (LAM) antigen bound to plastic combs. When the combs are incubated in diluted serum, specific anti-LAM antibodies from the sample, if present, bind to the antigen. The combs are then washed to remove non-specific antibody, and incubated in a suspension of colored particles which bind to the bound anti-LAM antibodies. If enough of the specific antibodies are present in the serum sample, a colored spot will form where the antigen is attached to the plastic comb. The sensitivity of the test is calibrated so that only cases of active mycobacterial disease such as tuberculosis will provide a positive reaction by MycoDot™

Rapid Immuno-Comb Serological Tests

The HIVDot for the diagnosis of AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) an infectious disease with world wide prevalence via the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Detection of antibody to the virus in plasma or serum provides good evidence of the exposure to the virus and can be used to screen blood and blood products prior to transfusion so as to avoid possible transmission of the infecting agent.
The HIVDot immunoassay employs the same principle as MycoDot above and other Enzyme Immuno Assay (EIA) where by immobilized antigen-antibody complex is visualized by means of color producing (chromogenic) reaction. When the combs are incubated in diluted serum, specific HIV 1 and/or 2 antibodies from the sample, if present, bind to the standardized blend of HIV-1 and HIV-2 recombinant antigens on the comb. The combs are then washed to remove non-specific antibody, and incubated in a suspension of colored particles which bind to the bound specific HIV 1 and/or 2 antibodies. The antibody - peptide complex is directly visualized after incubation with the Protein-A- Colloidal Gold Signal Reagent. A Positive result is indicated by the presence of magenta red colored dot on the surface of the Comb where peptides have been spotted.
